The Founding and Government of Manchukuo

The Japanese seizure of Manchukuo was not accepted quietly by the rest of the world. On the international scene the duplicity of the Japanese was soon exposed, and by March 1933 they had been forced to withdraw from the League of Nations. Their international isolation, however, did nothing to change the situation on the ground and Manchukuo remained in place.

China did not recognize the new State of Manchukuo but was compelled to establish official ties for trade, communications, and transportation. Comparatively few other States recognized the existence of Manchukuo as a legitimate State. Those that did so were largely under the influence of the Japanese, or within a few years their German allies.
